MATH ROCK LEGENDS UPSILON ACRUX ARE PLAYING THEIR FIRST TORONTO SHOW ON OCTOBER 16TH (courtesy of Next Level Syndicate)
Dont miss what will arguably be your first and last chance to see these guys in Canada.
All of their albums are good because they have something in common, they're brutal as fuck. This is possibly the most genuinely extreme and maddening music I've ever heard. They started out sounding primitive and have been evolving with every release. Galapagos was such a stunning balance of development and deconstruction to me. Upsilon Acrux makes me feel like a barbarian or a caveman and I wander the tundra smashing things with a club. Ya dig?
In followup to my previous post, I think the Upsilon Live release is now good to go. Sorry for any confusion and happy to receive any feedback you might have. Thanks for listening and supporting Upsilon. Take care ...
Hey folks. Just a heads up to let you know that I've tried to upload a new live release from Upsilon, but have encountered system problems that I am working with last.fm to resolve. All of the tracks appear okay, except for track 8 (bicycle race) which is not the version on the live release. I'll post a followup when things are resolved -- in the interim, sorry for any confusion. Hope you enjoy. Take care ...
that's odd. only thing i can see up there that's even remotely close to being a "name drop" is King Crimson, a pretty commonly used comparison for nearly any guitar-having band pegged as "progressive."
Hey, you have bicycle race on here! I love that one. I always reminds me of a radio call in bit where they asked folks' opinion on best and worst remakes. I should have called in with yours. Looking forward to that new cd & see you at the release.
In addition to the song on the myspace (In-A-Gadda-DeVito), there's also a tune on the Cuneiform Records website. It's called "Landscape with Gun and Chandelier." Click on the speaker icon next to the new album artwork.
