Good music not the best lyrics imho, but overall good. Just like TON, they do have their own kind of doom.

Type O Negative was (is) one of the best bands ever. There was and there will no be any band like them, and whatever talent their imitators had doesn't surpass the unadulterated sheer genius of their music. Contrary to what was believed, there were no act being play upon the audience, rather than a irony of themselves which show a clear sense of sincerity and clarity, both lyrically aswell as musically. SDH is justly dubbed as the “third Carnivore album”, which clearly fits in the afromentioned project for its unadulterated rage and hatred; BK marks their entrance into the mainstream aswell as the unification of their peculiar sound – a balanced mixage between Sabbath’s doom and The Beatles’s ethereal bliss, which set the blueprint for later Gothic Metal acts to come. Rightfully dubbed “Gothadelic” by Josh, it had no intention of being or acting “gothic”, but had a genuine sincerity to it which landmark’s the 90’s sound. OR employs more seriousness as the band begins to produce (...)

music not only more consciously crafted but cathering to higher audiences. Then comes WDC. Gone is the sexual overdrive, the sleazy playful waggery, all that is left is somber seriousness around the main theme of our lives: suffering. This is a work made by men who’ve truly experienced pain throughout the years and struggled to the point of not knowing what to do. ‘White Slavery’ sets the tone to the album, is the soundtrack to coke addiction. On the other hand, the title track manages to express self-hatred and depression in a manner unmatched to my ears. 'Everything Dies' is also a top-notch on the album, being the ending riff one of the most despaired and anguished compositions ever produced. The interludes, oddly reminiscent of 'The Wall''s non-musical exploitations, but way darker and disturbing, add to the general atmosphere of the album as something truly unhinged and harrowing, depicting such horror that only drugs and depression could produce.

Now, I do believe WCD (not WDC, heh) to be their landmark and masterpiece, where musically they achieved an unified sound which had become the esence of TON. 'Life is Killing Me' continues on that track, all the while being vastly different (with hardcore-paced songs, Beatlesque psychedelia, and just a little less depressive than its predecessor). 'Anesthesia' contains some of mine favourite lyrics from them. 'Tis amazing how good a lyricist Pete was, how much honesty he bled onto his music. 'Drunk in Paris' is just.. ethereal. Not more than two minutes long, gotta remain one of my favourites aswell. Then, after Pete's rehabilitation and conversion, spawns a rather more serious album: 'Dead Again' really does the job. Perhaps their most well-composed album in terms of genius song structures and the way they relate to each other. I gotta say it's perhaps my favourite, alongside WCD, but that's rather not an easy choice. Well, then... then he died. Rest in peace, Petrus. Thou shalt neve

How "Life is Killing Me" has double the scrobbles than "October Rust" or "Bloody Kisses" is mind boggling to me.

I feel as if everything they released after OR had a sincere "we feel bad and depressed about everything and we want to die" feeling which made those albums less idiosyncratic than the frist two. Obviously, any generic goth metalhead couldn't tell the difference between the great TON and its fruitless copies, so that's the thing. I still like LiKM as much as their first efforts, though.

Heh.

I was told that I look like a Type O Negative fan at the behavior health unit I was staying in because I have long black hair. That made me so happy.
