Writer, Musician, and Pop Culture Cosmonaut Tyler Scruggs has, perhaps inadvertently, been an early adopter his whole life. Self-identified as 'born on the Internet,' Scruggs is empathetically but unapologetically carving out his own unique space in pop culture and the broader 21st century digital frontier. Living in Atlanta, Georgia, he lives his life with a "Star Trek meets Spongebob"-like optimism; searching for the creative, novel, and meaningful in virtually everything.
In 2011, he self-released his first pop album Robots Live Forever, following it up with 2013’s Concerns. During this time, he performed shows both as a solo singer/songwriter act, and in bands like Tetra in 2012 across the west coast. His songwriting centers mainly around digital anxiety and loneliness, all in the frame of mainstream electronic & alt-pop music.
His writing is focused on pop culture perspective editorials, media criticism, as well as essays on LGBTQ+ issues and topics and personal stories. His work can be read in print and online at various publications, as well as his own personal outlet at tylerscruggs.com.
Currently, he is taking on freelance writing, consulting, and social media work as he pushes to complete his third music album, slated to be finished in the Summer of 2019.
