This track was slated to feature Sir Paul McCartney and land on Kanye West’s 7th solo album, The Life of Pablo. Travis Scott had other ideas: he traded an early demo of “FML” in exchange for this song.
The song’s aggressive, in-your-face vibe is reminiscent of West’s Yeezus album in both production and structure.
In context, “Piss on your grave” is a prophetic announcement to the white “executives” of corporate America. The baby boomers have retired, and now only Generation X stands between the Snake Person and corporate governance. Kanye and Travis know these faceless men are a dying breed and can’t wait to rain on their parade.
