I used to skip this song much because i thought it kinda silly but the more I got across it the times i forgot to skip it, the more I came to apreciate it. The music is so happy and the song is so happy and talks about something so sad
I've always thought Tori's voice and delivery were different, and some of her songs didn't appeal to me. This is one I like. I see, as I listen more and read at least some of the comments, that personal tastes make all the difference. Not every song by any artist is perfect, but some are closer than others. Of course, that's the way WE hear them. It reminds me of a quote. “I know that you believe you understand what you think I said, but I'm not sure you realize that what you heard is not what I meant.” - Robert McCloskey. I think it applies to music as well.
I really really like this song. The weird thing is though, I used to think I would like to have it played at my funeral. Now I realize it would probably be a little inappropriate because it's so fun and happy and stuff. Now I'd go for 'Merman' instead.
I love the comment from clockworkwombat, 'so this is where regina spektor came from', and I totally agree that this song could be at the centre of a musical, or be the only song in a musical short film perhaps?
