Cartoon Heart (April 2020) is the third studio offering from TiPPLE, the trio of Frode Gjerstad (saxophones, clarinets, flutes), Kevin Norton (percussion, vibes), and David Watson (@davidwatsun; guitar and Scottish small pipes). From the disgruntled rumblings of “Tool Box” to the searing metallic distortion of "Incinerator," the clean resonances of “Cinnamon” to the bleating sheep-pipes opening “Ghost Ship,” Cartoon Heart is as wide-ranging as it is collaborative, an innovative step forward from an international trio that defies easy categorization.
