Timothy Brown was born in 1946. A chorister at Westminster Abbey, he was a Musical Scholar at Dean Close School, Cheltenham, before becoming an alto Choral Scholar at King's College, Cambridge, under Sir David Willcocks. Whilst at Cambridge he read the Music Tripos and gained his first experience as a choral director.
