Biography

All met at Allen Park High School, and were all in the concert choir at one time . Danny and the others used to rehearse in Danny's basement, where brother Rick (Tim Tam) heard them, joined in and wrote their big hit for them, "Wait A Minute". They sold 30,000 copies of the single the first month after its release. Rick Wiesend and Tom DeAngelo wrote all the material. Fellow classmates from Allen Park High, "The Sattelights" became their backup band.

"Wait A Minute" opens with a brief a cappella introduction "I am searching for a new love…" (which originated in 1950s versions of "Sunday Kind of Love" by doo-wop groups such as The Harptones and The Del-Vikings) before it turns into an up-tempo stomper for the remainder of its 2:15 duration.

An interesting piece of lore about the group, as reported by the Michigan Rock and Roll Legends (MRRL) Website: In 2009, two 12-unit apartment buildings in Allen Park that had been owned by Rick and Danny Wiesend’s father and named after Tim Tam and the Turn-Ons were deemed a neighborhood nuisance and demolished by the city at a cost of $70,000. The two buildings, one named ‘Tim Tam’ and the other ‘The Turn-Ons’ , had been boarded up recent years and were scheduled for demolition after the current owner did not make the needed repairs.
