This is probably my favorite Thursday album from a songwriting perspective but yeah, the mixing is quite bad.

Sucks that this album was released through a major label. Subpar mixing quality not withstanding.

I wrote about "A City By the Light Divided" (http://onerecordperday.wordpress.com/2013/01/04/day-4-325-thursday-a-city-by-the-light-divided/) and "Full Collapse" (http://onerecordperday.wordpress.com/2013/01/15/day-15-328-thursday-full-collapse/) for my 365-day music project "One Record Per Day." This band meant the absolute world to me, and it'd mean a lot if you checked out what I wrote. Thanks.

This album could easily be the soundtrack to the Silent Hill movie. So many connected themes and motifs.

full collapse may be better but this is no slouch.. they went and reached for more and succeeded most of the time; for example Sugar in the Sacrament.

Such a ridiculously good album. Would have more plays on here if Last.fm scrobbled from the CD player.

its a good album i just honestly think they fucked up with the muddled vocal mix. this band has always been about the lyrics and Friedmann washed them out

And for some reason, it seems well-paired with Saturday Night Wrist by Deftones.

Common Existance feels like a step backwards after this one. I mean it's still good, but ACBTLD sounds so thick and textured, and produced to sound like a good heavy pop record. Definately the least over-dramatic and slightly more subdued. This and Waiting are my personal favourites but for very different reasons - Waiting sounds like it's recorded straight from the basement and this one sounds like it's been produced by Brian Eno.

full collapse > a city by the light divided > common existence > waiting > war all the time

I agree, War All the Time was the first album I heard from Thursday and I really didn't like it. Though I cannot speak for Thursday's other album, this one beats War All the Time, hands down (imho).

counting is about a friend of geoffs that was killed after high school on fucking train tracks... if i was geoff id say fuck you to anybody bashing too, considering it obviously means a shit load to him and the lyrics are really depressing when you realize that's what it's about

People don't appreciate this album and it's a shame, because in a lot of ways it's their best album. Some fans are just too narrow minded. Last time I saw Thursday live Geoff basically said "Fuck you" to the 'fans' that hate on this album and I agree. This album will always be something special to me.

Honestly, not my favorite by them, but I still love every bit of music Thursday has made. They rock
