When you hear Therese Elmkvists voice, you pay attention to the storytelling lyrics and her strong voice. Therese writes songs straight from her heart, and isn’t afraid to be too personal. Her lyrics go hand in hand with the melodies, and she makes a great effort in to making a perfect match between them.

She was born in Norway, but moved to Denmark at the age of 4. The rough landscapes and the culture of the land in the north, still hold a big piece in her heart. Being bilingual in an early age, made her curios exploring different languages and it felt natural for her to write her songs in english.

Therese graduated from the rhythmic music conservatory in June 2008, the leading education within the field of music in Denmark.
Over the years, she has received lessons from different danish and international artists, such as; Anders Ørsager, Trinelise Væring, Sanne Graulund, Billy Cross, Etta Cameron, Silvana Malta, Carlos Malta, Sher Minandad Khan and Tine Refsgaard.

She learned how to play the piano in an early age, but a year ago she wanted new inspiration. She bought a guitar, and decided to write all her songs on it. Her knowledge of the instrument was limited, but she saw the possibilities and stuck to it.

In 2006 she made contact with a girl from London, called Rosa. Therese wanted to go to London, and had by coincidence found Rosas MySpace. She asked Rosa if she had any ideas for cheep hostels and great songwriter venues, and instead Rosa offered Therese to stay at her place in Shepherds Bush. This was the beginning of a beautiful friendship, and after the visit, Therese began to plan a longer stay.
In October 2007, she went to London again. She stayed there for eight weeks, and immediately felt home.
The sole purpose of the stay, was writing songs for her graduation concert.

“London gives me such a piece of mind. It is the perfect surroundings for me, when I need to dig deep into my soul for song material”, she says.

Therese put together a band in 2007. She found some of the best musicians in the country, and they back up her compositions perfectly.

At the moment lots is going on. Therese is recording songs, writing more material and then she has hired the PR-management, Promote It, to help her out with all the different public relations matters. They are planning to release her first radio-single during the spring 2009.

A tour to London has been planned, and will take place also in spring 2009.

An album release is expected in fall 2009, but nothing is certain and everything can happen.

So please, listen to my music and come visit this Last.Fm regularly. I often post new songs.
