Aegis and VDTF both are the best of their stuff. Just great! But I totally don't understand Assembly. Maybe, this is great album for someone, but for me it's just nonsense and total disappointment. Btw, I like industrial music, but not this! Thanks, there are tons of another great gothic and doom bands to listen to)
What I really like about Assembly and Musique is the context. Almost every relevant band which developed the metal thing in gothic music in the earlier 90's suddenly went berzek and released synthpop, industrial or heavily eletronica-influenced records around the same time (the exception was Type O), like Paradise Lost, Moonspell, ToT, Tiamat and even Fields of the Nephelim and My Dying Bride. I think people are influenced by the criticism which Assembly and Musique had; they are wonderful albums, like every other Tot album in their own way.
Welp, I see Anastaxia_Xylf post and I'm quite confused as I wanted to start with them, but I don't know where. So, which album is best to start? For giving some clue what I like, I like industrial metal (but more old school one), true gothic doom and doom (Type O), also I really dislike stuff like Epica. (mostly for vocals and too little "symphonic" elements while being symphonic metal) But something like Mortemia is really nice for my ears. Any ideas?
Hi, I suggest to go chronological... it's very interesting how they were changing from one album to another. As I was young then, I fell in love with all of them in different years, but with time I guess "Velver ..." and "Aegis" are the best. Very conceptual, like a solid piece of art each one.
Their early doom is okay, strange but actually I'm more into their industrial metal stuff, probably it would had been better to make another side project with this kind of music. In these means I really miss this band. :-/
it seems that we may have them back cheers raymond and kristine <3 fronted leaders of the overrated beauty and the beast genre, but the first band that ever made go to the cemetery all in black , hopefully they will fully show us amazing surprises!!!!!!!! ¨are a true christian believer? ¨
v Storm undeniably suffers from a very bad production which makes it seem excessively homogeneous. But the more you listen to it, the more nuances you find out in each song, and they start to stand out.
Their final album is by far my favourite, and I think the fan favourite. But I LOVE Storm. After not really liking them for a long time (I never really aodred their older Liv stuff) Storm made me really fall in love with them. The songs are very different, it's just hard to see that initially.
