"The Waterboys were easily the biggest thought provokers of the festival. Performing tracks from their latest release and songs from their classic 1985 album This is the Sea including the award-winning The Whole of the Moon, which Scott opened with “Lets nail this motherfucker to the wall”, the guys showed that nothing has changed.
Scott’s vivacious vox and sheer fervour saw him kick the mid-air, whilst his engaging stage presence got the audience literally spinning around in circles at his request, making for an unforgettable set. Scott is more than just a story-teller, he is one of the most profound poets of this century, and the passion, mystery and love that drowned each of the tracks he performed at Bluesfest made that all the more clear."

new album is not excepcional, but the blueish sound is really comfortable, the album could be smaller i guess, but it works well if youre not looking for inovation. my fav tracks are destines entwined, i can ser Elvis and beautiful now.
The Waterboys, in my humble opinion, are one of the most insightful and inspirational rock bands of All Time. i was blessed to see them perform in San Francisco way back in the day. As expected, it was a MAGNIFICENT performance. Oh Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!
"I was under a lot of pressure with the breakup over a relationship." - Mike Scott reveals how a W.H. Auden poem helped him to move on from a relationship and write The Waterboys classic, "Fisherman's Blues": http://www.songfacts.com/blog/playingmysong/mike_scott_of_the_waterboys_-_fisherman_s_blues_/
...my first chance to see them live in a couple of weeks here in Melbourne; proud to say that This is the Sea and A Pagan Place are the only vinyl that I have actually audibly ruined through overplaying. I can't wait, but i'm kind of dreading it, their music has always moved me - I don't want it spoiled by the baggage of memorial expectation...ie of the memory
I saw The Waterboys play live last night in Brighton. I thought it was wonderful. Two sets - first about an hour, second about an and a quarter. Despite the length I was engaged throughout. I even had a tear in my eye during the more sentimental numbers. The Yeats stuff (second set) is amazing. Band looked to be loving it too. A really good night out - and a wonderful band.

I'm dying to listen to the new release, "In a Special Place"! The previews sound awesome, and are a showcase of Mike's songwriting genius - all stripped down to just piano and voice, and still so melodic and passionate :)
