This group was one of Motowns very best. Their album " Temptin' Temptations " includes two excellent tracks never released on singles. If you like The Temps....check out this CD & songs "I Gotta Know Now" & "Born To Love You".
Perhaps the greatest vocal group ever, but a shitty band. As a lead guitarist, Eddie was horrible but not as bad as Melvin on drums. The other three all played saxaphone with average proficiency. The only great band member was Dennis, who played a mean harmonica while singing.
Truly a product of Motown. They had the benefit of receiving arguably Smokey Robinson and Norman Whitfield's best production and without those guys they'd probably just be another singing quintet in the mix, though I won't disregard Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffins great voices, they just didn't come up with their own music. Basically they were just vehicles for the music to be delivered, they delivered well though, there's no denying that, but there's a reason why they fell off in the seventies.
