Biography
The Lower Class is a hip hop trio based out of San Marcos, Texas comprised of Pliny Science, imaGenius, and Kartune. The members met during their college career at Texas State University.
Within the first two months of collaboration they released their debut original mixtape “Flight of Ideas”. The LP gained buzz in the underground community after a week of release. Reviews were generally positive.
The group then took a break from recording to focus on shows, playing venues in Victory Grill (unofficial SXSW), Red 7, Club DeVille, North Door, and Texas Music Theater. In addition, they opened up for musical acts Mckenzie Eddy, Huey Mack, Strong Arm Steady, Statik Selektah and others.
Since their last project, Flight of Ideas, The Lower Class has slowly garnered viral recognition for their patented sound which can aptly be described as a contemporary take on indie sound. They released their second mixtape "Wingfield" (sponsored by Apple Juice Break and Oh So Fresh) which brought back producer imaGenius’ eclectic sound mixed with a new found focus, emphasizing on jazz and soul samples.
From writing to marketing, every aspect of the band's operations are managed without any outside help. In addition, they draw influence from artist ranging from J Dilla to Jurassic 5. Currently, the trio is working with Bluroc Records artist/president Mckenzie Eddy on future projects and endeavors.
