Also in consistency of quality. On that aspect, the sequence of Face to Face-Something Else-Village Green-Arthur-Lola gives The Beatles' Rubber Soul-Revolver-Sgt. Peppers-White Album-Abbey Road a good run for its money.
This band is so much better than their radio hits would have led me to believe. Never liked Lola or You Really Got Me (all I ever heard on radio), but the more I listen to them, the more I'd say they're one of my favorite classic rock bands. Stellar stuff.
I'm gonna be honest. For a second after I read this I was like "I'm sure it sound fine, calm down" but holy shit the "Remastered" version is absolute ass. I'm actually kinda pissed at how they removed the mono version and replaced it with a completely butchered version.
There's definitely a case that could be made for them. For that matter I think a lot of the stuff they did in the 70s is worthy of (re)discovery. But yeah, Face to Face, Something Else, Village Green Preservation Society, Arthur and The Kink Kontroversy are all classics ("Klassics?" *groan*).
