Lyrics
Late one night in Nimbin town as the locals quietly dreamed
The moon came up from behind the ridge
but things weren't as they seemed
A spark took hold in the timber boards of an old-time marketplace
In a few short minutes they had themselves a god-almighty mighty blaze
The locals came pouring out of the hills with buckets in their hands
They all turned up to save the town - every woman, child and man
They took a quick vote on what to do and who should make the tea
A pyrotechnic pantomime for one and all to see
Nimbin smoulders - Nimbin burns - long into the night
The firemen were all too hungry to put up any fight
The cops were all dazed and confused - thought it was a joke
Nimbin smoulders - Nimbin burns - Nimbin goes up in smoke
The fire burned on and on as the timber all turned to ash
The cafe lost its brownies and the museum lost its stash
Luckily the locals managed to save some organic free-range corn
And they knocked up a nice polenta for the starving lookers on
Nimbin smoulders - Nimbin burns - long into the night
The firemen were all too hungry to put up any fight
The cops were all dazed and confused - thought it was a joke
Nimbin smoulders - Nimbin burns - Nimbin goes up in smoke
Police said the fire was suspicious
they found some Tally-ho's at the site
And a box of redhead matches - near a bottle not quite right
They thought it was Al Qaeda - or some other terrorist cell
With a new kind of accelerant - judging by the smell
Nimbin smoulders - Nimbin burns - long into the night
The firemen were all too hungry to put up any fight
The cops were all dazed and confused - thought it was a joke
Nimbin smoulders - Nimbin burns - Nimbin goes up in smoke
