Explosive fuzz sounds, a groovy transistor organ and thick waves of ‘verb will keep you floating as the boys of The Hazzah bring you their surfy garagerock. The combination of sultry psych jams, surfy garage and a load of live energy make every show an experience. Their sound has been described as The Black Lips and Allah Las having a one night stand.
The Hazzah released their debut EP ‘XEX’ on Dutch/British label Mink Records on the 9th of June, 2017. Writing and recording in the seaside town of The Hague, The Netherlands, 'XEX’, was inspired by the daily life in and the rough, hidden corners of the coastal/urban landscape. The image on the artwork, for instance, depicts a strange old shop in the red light district around the corner from their rehearsal space, that provided the inspiration for the name of the EP: ‘XEX’. Dutch music magazine The Daily Indie described the title song as follows; "It's truly a breathtaking blow in the face - which rarely felt so good".
In November 2016 The Hazzah released their first 7" called 'New Fuzz/I Will Wait For You', which they recorded with Henk Koorn (Hallo Venray) at Sahara Sound Studio. As 3voor12 Den Haag explains: 'I Will Wait For You' makes you feel like you're in California, cruising down the coast in your Volkswagen van. In spirit the boys of The Hazzah are right there, in that van, fueled up and ready to go'. Muzine described them as an "energiek stelletje mafkezen"… translate that and try and guess what happens next… the journey continues.
