Explosive fuzz sounds, a groovy transistor organ and thick waves of ‘verb will keep you floating as the boys of The Hazzah bring you their garage rock, ranging from in-your-face rock tracks to sultry surf-jams. The Hazzah’s music is a reflection of the warm comfort and existential freedom experienced through a smoke break during a long road trip. Refining their post-psychedelic roots for their upcoming debut album, The Hazzah’s songs have become louder, deeper and shorter. The scuzzy sounds and words draw influences from bands like Black Lips, The Rolling Stones, Ty Segall and Tomorrows Tulips.

The Hazzah released their debut EP ‘XEX’ on Mink Records on the 9th of June, 2017. Writing and recording in the seaside town of The Hague, The Netherlands, ‘XEX’, was inspired by the daily life in and the rough, hidden corners of the coastal/urban landscape. The image on the artwork, for instance, depicts a strange old shop in the red light district around the corner from their rehearsal space, that provided the inspiration for the name of the EP: ‘XEX’. Dutch music magazine The Daily Indie described the title song as follows; “It’s truly a breathtaking blow in the face – which rarely felt so good” and Muzine added: “energiek stelletje mafkezen”… translate that…

2017 ended with a 120 live show count, including Popronde and a tour in France around surf camps. In 2018 the band started picking up pace, backed by their live agent Friendly Fire, playing an array of live shows including Le Mini Who, Dutch Design Week, Life I Live, Crossing Border and Paaspop, and support shows for Mattiel (CA), Pale Waves (UK), Alex Lahey (AU), St. Tropez (NL), CFM (VS), Hallo Venray (NL), Equal Idiots (BE), The Glücks (BE), Phobophobes (UK).

The Hazzah performed a live session at 3FM radio, in advance of the release of their two singles ‘I’m Your Man/Spend It All’. The tracks were included in playlists by Spotify, including ‘New Alternative’, and a video for ‘Spend It All’ was released by Noisey/Vice, while the video for I’m Your Man was featured on visual tastemaker blog Booooooom TV. Early 2019 will see the release of The Hazzah’s debut album ‘Post’ on Mink Records, as well as many more shows.
