The Dirtydogs have suited up, mixed their drinks with one part pop, one part rock and thrown in a Swedish guitar virtuous as the new found stirring stick. Their new single “The Failure Of Barney Stinson/Iron Square grabs you by the hand and leads you safely into the soft breeze of the summer night.
Since last years debut album, “Bedtime For Jokers”, they have gone through somewhat of a musical recreation. The broad legged rock sound from the debut has been transformed into indie pop that you simply must dance to. With the Failure Of Barney Stinson booming from the speakers you have no choice. It is a 3 minutes long, glorious statement of what a Norwegian indie band can achieve if they put their backs into it.
In the scheme of things, the b – side, “Iron Square”, operates as a safe and sound bridge between the leather jackets of the old world and the sailor – ties of the new. It has everything you need from a rock band: Fuzzy guitars combined with exiting electronic elements and a classic sing along chorus.
The Dirtydogs is the sound of summer and young vitality – Sandefjords Blad.
They have been hanging out with Ryan Adams in Manchester and supported Mick Jagger’s brother Chris in Bergen. Their music sounds a bit like that as well – Furore I Harare.
Their Myspace page is sparse. There is one song there, but that is so strong that we can not get enough of it. A good old repeat as they say (Sticks & Stones) – Panorama.no
