This song is in the same vein as many of Buddy Guy's tracks off Sweet Tea. Real drawn out, repetitive, trance-like, blues. I don't know what else to call it. I just know I love the shit out of it. :)
This song is like driving an old Cadillac through Alabama back roads in mid summer with no A/C and the windows rolled down as sweat beads up across your forehead threatening to run down into your eyes; one arm on the wheel with the other resting on the door. The smell of sweat, hot rubber, asphalt, and sweet smell of fresh mowed hay.
Even though it's hugely indebted to Junior Kimbrough (as it's a cover), this is really one of Dan's finest performances. If you like this, check out the Chulahoma EP, which is basically this song extended into an entire EP. It's slightly disturbing that Dan's best guitar work comes when he's covering Kimbrough.
