December 2016 (age 2)
Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, United States
Test Meat first got together in December of 2016 to make loud, heavy, catchy rock music. Songs with hooks and weight. Guitarist/vocalist Darryl Shepard is a veteran of the Boston music scene, having played in such bands as Slaughter Shack, Slapshot, Roadsaw, Milligram and many more. Drummer Michael “Nash” Nashawaty is also a Boston rock veteran, having kept time in Planetoid and Slim & the Tank, as well as his other current band Bird Language. As a power duo, Nash and Darryl share a vision of playing heavy rock music with an ear for melody and brute force. The songs are concise and get to the point. No song is over four minutes long, most are under three.
Test Meat has so far released a five song CD demo/EP, a three song 7″ on their own Team Meat Records (which includes a Guided by Voices cover), and a song on a local compilation put out by Death Kiss records. They have also played a full live set on WMFO and played a few acoustic songs on WZLX. More songs have since been written and a full length is being planned at this very moment which will bring to fruition their vision of marrying loud heavy rock with pop melodies. Live, the band has honed their show by travelling throughout the Northeast, playing clubs in New York, Maine, Connecticut and of course their home state of Massachusetts. More shows are in the works. Both Darryl and Nash have toured with other bands, in the U.S. and overseas, so the experience is there in droves. All fat has been trimmed from their presentation. The music stands on it own, and more is on the way.
