I feel like nobody should even be surprised, kamtins vocals alone set the whole vibe for them and now instead they went all pop punk radio-friendly Disney channel band now. The album would have been fine if it came from a different band but this a disappointment that we knew was coming
these were exactly my thoughts, if seahaven or say balance and composure had made something like this it woulda been fine with me, but earth is a black hole is too much different and lacks the atmosphere of chrome neon jesus
honestly, I'm enjoying a lot of the songs from Earth is a Black Hole, but I think it's fair to say that its pleasures as an album are markedly different from Chrome Neon Jesus (which I love even more). it's not just poppier but less dusky, shinier; again, still something I enjoy, but not really for the same reasons.
that said, CNJ was a massive improvement on anything the band did beforehand (imo), and I'm hopeful for the future; "Silverspoon" is a great throwback to before and if they've got more of that in them, that's good by me.
Really like these guys, they blend the harder end of shoegaze (Swervedriver, Catherine Wheel as someone else mentioned) with mid 2000's emo. Almost as if Armor for Sleep really loved the 90's. Really enjoyable stuff.
The guitarist took up vocal duties. He has another project called Swing Hero where he plays guitar and does vocals aswell and it's pretty good too, so I fully believe the new material will be of great quality aswell. Tho we won't know until its actually out of course
we had their dazed ep randomly hanging around my college radio station, totally thought these guys were a lot bigger than they actually are just from listening to that. they're sure to come up though, this stuff is too good!!
