I saw her perform 3 or 4 years ago and it changed my life. New album came out today. It's so good. Read her book and listen to the new album.

her live performance is absolutely transcendental. brilliant woman with a very talented group of musicians backing her up. she takes on so many emotions/personae with such unbridled intensity.

The description is misleading because "Inuit throat singing" isn't actually throat singing as its generally known to be a form of overtone singing with the most prolific representation in traditional Mongolian/Turkic cultures. The proper term is "Inuit vocal games", which just happen to feature throaty sounds, impressionistically speaking. Inuit vocal games don't generally feature overtone singing, though it may appear incidentally as it does in assorted examples of experimental music. This point is made in more detail in the booklet for one of the ethnomusicological albums documenting Inuit vocal games, though I don't recall which album offhand.

So far the biggest surprise and ecstasy at the colours of ostrava festival. The live show with beatbox and the cello was famous!! Thanx Tanya!

I've never heard (or even heard of) throat singing before this. It's growing on me. I wonder about that...
