Judging by this shoutbox and the crowd I encountered at my last Swans show, I’d say their fan demographic has radically shifted again. In my day it was all goth/industrial types, with a smattering of metalheads. At the time of their comeback it was hipsters who thought the previous fan identities were pretentious. Now it’s…what? Gen Z Rate Your Music Fantano watching types who are into ironic humor and associate Swans with Death Grips? I’m not saying it’s a bad thing though. At least they’re finally being appreciated by the masses.

I wouldn't be surprised if the band members are super skinny now based off the amount of videos i've seen them playing, where they're sweating bullets and are playing like their lives depended on it, I definitely need to see them play live at least once

I wonder how much influence Swans (and Gira's solo work/Angels of Light) had on the Denver gothic country scene, songs like Failure for example sound very similar to what artists like 16HP or Jay Munly (Munly in particular) would end up doing in the mid-late 90s/early 00s, that sort of fusion of folk rock, gothic rock, and country.
