Swallowed Whole is a United States based solo extreme doom metal project of a musician under the pseudonym Atrox that was formed, in his own words, “from the ashes, scraps, and forgotten bits of older bands and material that never really got off the ground at all” The writing/recording process of Megalomania began in late 2017, and it was published to Bandcamp on the third of March in 2018 to a fairly positive reception, receiving an 8/10 score from MetalStorm.
Swallowed Whole's content showcases a nihilistic, depressed, and misanthropic outlook on life by illustrating some of the worst pieces of humanity's history. Dark, murky, and dense, the music is intended to be befitting of the horrific subject matter about which it's written.
Atrox is a firm believer that humanity is insignificant in the grand scheme of things, as his Bandcamp artist bio states the following:
“None of us are anything more than a silent whisper in a cacophony of the filth we create.
You have no intrinsic value.
You aren't special.
The universe doesn't need you.
It will continue on long after we perish.
We will all be invariably forgotten.”
