Generation Degeneration was inspired by the lack of motivation in some people, believing that "We are all going backwards". The album features relationship breakups, new friends that changed your life, and family disturbances. Jack believes "Anyone can relate to these songs in anyway they want", meaning the subject of the song can mean different things and apply certain scenarios to an individual.
