Colin Strachan was born in Edinburgh in 1986, and grew up in the north of England. He developed an insatiable passion for electronic music in his childhood after picking up a second-hand copy of Robert Miles’ Dreamland at a village market.
Colin began making music for amateur video games at the age of 13, and first track Surrounding You became one of the most downloaded tracks of the year on the online music community TraxInSpace in 2001. Colin got his first studio hardware, a Korg Triton workstation, at the age of 15 and he soon added the legendary Roland JP-8000 virtual analog modelling synth to his arsenal. Inspired by his new gear, he went on to produce a remix of Coldplay’s Fix You that was picked up by BBC Radio1 DJ Judge Jules in December 2005.
At this point Colin had just moved to Birmingham, where he joined the city's 1210 DJ Society – a thriving community of young, music-hungry performers. The society put on a series of successful events at the renowned Rainbow club, as well as other venues across the city.
Now living in Montréal, Québec, Colin continues to produce electronic music and perform live DJ sets in a variety of styles. The city’s open-minded and incredibly multicultural landscape has led him to meet devoted artists from Venezuela to Lebanon. The cultural mosaic Colin delivered as a guest on Frisky Radio in June 2017 is a testament to how a nomadic lifestyle continues to shape his musical landscape.
