Adegoke Steve Colson is an American jazz pianist and composer. Born in Newark and raised in East Orange, NJ, he received his degree from Northwestern University School of Music and lived in Chicago for a decade. November 13, 1989 was proclaimed Adegoke Steve Colson Day by the City of Newark in honor of the premiere of his multi-media work, Greens, Rice, and a Rope, at Newark Symphony Hall during the national celebration of New Music America.
Iqua Colson (born Kristine Browne, 12 July 1953 in Chicago, Illinois, USA) is an American vocalist, composer, lyricist, arts administrator, and educator. She studied piano from a young age, completing her musical education in Northwestern University School of Music and Chicago Musical College at Roosevelt University, and in 1975, she married pianist Adegoke Steve Colson, and in 1982 they moved to New Jersey.
They have received numerous accolades independently and jointly, remaining a respected jazz duo.
