Soul Emigre was a project that existed between one kid from Reno, Nevada and two kids from Arnhem, The Netherlands. Two records were released, one of which is available on Spacement Records. Members other projects include: Dodewaard, This Computer Kills, Foreclosure, Disconnect, and Pink Black.
In the summer of 2001, drummer Jorick spent his vacation in Reno Nevada (USA). He was on vacation to see friends he and his girlfriend met a year before. On a hot afternoon when there was nothing to do, Jorick (drums) and Ty (guitar) started playing Just for fun. After some pretty rotten jams they decided to record a 7". After that moment everything fell in the right place. They produced three songs within a week's time. Unfortunately, for Jorick it was time to leave. Since the project wasn't finished at that time, Ty decided to come to the Netherlands and work things out. they enlisted Jorick's friend Teun on bass. Within a week Teun learned to play the songs and together they wrote two more. After six rehearsels they got into the studio. Recording all five songs as best as they could. The basis was laid out for our first 7". Soul Emigre was born. A recordsleeve was designed, the recording was mastered and went to the presser. Everything was done themselves. It was hard and difficult sometimes but the result is the best they could come up with the time given to them. This fall. (Nov. 2002) a new era has started, Ty is back in the Netherlands for six months. the souls plan to play as many shows as they can and hopefully record another record in whatever form. They hope you will enjoy a show and listening to the 7", they appreciate it a lot!
