Since forming in early 2017, North Carolinian quintet Slumberwave has cultivated an energetic and exploratory style of instrumental rock in the same vein as Caspian, Russian Circles and Mogwai. The Port City post-rock collective was founded by bassist Jason Williams, guitarists Jarrod Cox and Jesse Ray, and drummer Ken Hardy later being joined by keyboardist Judson Hurd. Williams left amicably in mid-2018 and was replaced with Charles Gernert who has been integral in the writing process for an upcoming release. With the debut of their latest singles, “Athlete” and “Summit”, Slumberwave galvanize their ability to build intense soundscapes and transfixing melodies with movements that feel intense yet cinematic.
