There are at least two artists named Sjoerd:
1) A guy from Amsterdam whose homecomputer songs end up in Last.fm because they are played on his mediaplayer.
2) A Dutch guy in Antwerp. Black Cassette started with Sjoerd Bruil recording music on his 4track cassette machine surrounded by mice and coffee in an attic room in Antwerp, Belgium. After three years, Sjoerd has decided to let some of these songs slip through security and throw them in the ether. Sjoerd has lived in Hengelo, The Hague and Utrecht (all in the Netherlands) but decidedly moved down to Antwerp (Belgium) and will stick around for a while to steal other people's riffs, turn them inside out and walk down its dodgy streets at night. In the past, Sjoerd has provided music for two short dance performances and a short film that featured a girl walking through the woods guided by a pink thread. Right now, Sjoerd also plays guitar in a group called Sukilove and, previously, in a combo named The Crab Four, which has pushed the self-destruct button after its 7th or 8th concert - this was for a reason. For live performances, Sjoerd will rely on Jeroen Stevens (from ILoveSarah) to play drums/pull faces and Pascal Deweze (Sukilove, The Crab Four) to provide bass, vocals, and stamina.
Sjoerd would like people to download his songs and listen to them while they're in a train, walking down the street or minding someone else's business, and then to come home and give him their opinion."
