From this point on, the lyrical quality Scott reached cemented him as one of the all time best, breathtaking narratives with so many details used in such a unique way, and the arrangements are perfect for his approach.

I bought this album back in 2008 as a reward for finishing university. I turned the lights out and listened to it on headphones, something I rarely do. What an experience! I was really blown away by the sound design. I was even more surprised at how conventional it is. There are songs. There are hooks. It's not avant garde really. It's just not pop. Listening to it is more like watching a European art movie from the 60s or 70s. Maybe growing up on records like Six by Mansun prepared the ground for me, i'm not sure.

I didn`t know what to think the first time I heard Tilt.. I didn`t really like it. But after a couple of days I started thinking about it. So I listened to it again, and after hearing it three-four times I fell in love with the sound. Takes some time getting used to I guess

Scott4 is better than this however worthy an experiment it is... Avant-gardism equals less pleasure in my opinion.

The first time I heard this I was confused. Ten years later it is one of my all time favourites. Conjures up storm clouds, farms at night, lights twinkling on dark hills, moon glinting off crop blades and the knowing but silent tension rippled through livestocks torso...fascinating

bought my copy six years ago. I was 16 then. yeah. more people should encounter such starkly avant garde mindfucks like this at such an impressionable age. "IT'S A BEAUTIFUL NIIIIIIGHT, YEAH!"

And to think Scott Walker made this in the 90s just goes to prove how much of a "30 century man" he is indeed. This is one of the finest albums I've ever heard.

@thisisobvious - yeah, I saw that in the Scott Walker doc and it was pretty weird to hear him say that. His reaction seemed pretty excessive...almost like there's more to the story there or something.

It's sort of strange hearing Marc Almond say he hated this album, considering his own work with Coil and Jim Thirlwell. Whatevs, Marc.
