Biography

Scicoustic is a South African band from Pretoria and was founded at the turn of the millenium by Albert Meintjes (vox & guitar) and his brother Gideon (drums) after their previous project Strange Weather split up. They were joined by Mike Roy on bass and Jaco Loots on percussion.

Together they created a unique sound unlike any other, that has today grown into a musical journey that will take you from calm serenity to gut-wrenching emotional highs in a matter of seconds, coming down on you like an african hail storm and then suddenly leaving you hanging out to dry.

2001 saw the release of their debut album 'Mirrors', featuring number one hits like 'Oceans Apart', 'Mirrors', 'Bolshie Woman' and the SciCoustic anthem 'Assassin'. 'Mirrors' was widely received by diverse audiences and is still a favourite amongst many SciCoustic followers.

Extensive national tours followed to promote the album and the band performed at various festivals nationwide, including Oppikoppi, KKNK and STRAB.

Current band members: Albert Meintjes, Gideon Meintjes, Billa Pansegrouw, Gert Wolmerhans, Wouter Reinecke
