This song is a true depiction of how I was living my life when it came out in 1994. There have always been two constants in my life that dragged me from the depths of despair and that is family and heavy metal music. I was a young husband father, and a policeman at the time (former Marine as well), and nothing that could have prepared me for the homicides, suicides, abused children, rapes, the crack epidemic, and all of the evil that men do to one another. And as I reflect back, the line "as your staring up at heaven from the bottom of the glass" is so utterly accurate of that era in my life. I would like to thank my family and bands such as Savatage who helped me traverse these difficult times. I can imagine a heckler or two as they read this, but you have no idea, whatsoever...until you walked in my shoes.
