Not so much a mess as it is several albums rolled into one but nothing really stands out as an awkward inclusion - so that's a positive. The more you listen to Rudebox, the more it makes sense. A few songs could have been better though and the album's at least two tracks too long.
v Lol @ you calling She's The One and Kids "cheap music", when if any RW album falls under that category, it's Rudebox. Cheap and campy is the order of the day on most of this album but that's the point from the start, so it's cool.
This is an album full of material that I feel he almost HAD to get out of him. The sort of laddish ire and cheek that zipped around impishly on his last few records but never dominated. It's an absolute mess but at least ten of the album's tracks are strong individually...
There are several tracks from "Rudebox" that I really like, my favorites are "Viva Life On Mars", Manu Chao cover "Bongo Bong" and "Never Touch That Switch", and there're some other tracks I can listen to. But entirely album is very controversial.
