Rivid is Progressive Metal band from Corinth, Texas
Rivid more or less had its origins in 2009 when brothers Mitch and Simon Russell (Drums and Bass respectively) began to jam and write progressive rock together. Finding that their sound was lacking without guitarists the two each found a guitarist to round out the line up; Simon bringing in classmate and close friend Victor Navarro, Mitch bringing in former band mate and old friend Nathan Fenner. The four began constantly jamming and writing songs as well as incorporating some of Fenner’s solo work (most well known being “Launch!” and “To Pilot a Moon…”). But a line up change was quickly forced in as Mitch had to leave the band for personal reasons. The trio then recruited Nick Boatman to fill in. The lineup now complete, the band decided to go under the title of “The Catatonic Imperative”. During the time of The Catatonic Imperative the band had many shows such as one at The House of Blues in Dallas and had a show with local favorites Good Shive Low. But as fate would have it, before one show Russell and Boatman were unable to make it; Fenner and Navarro searched and found Ryan Dwyer and Jordan Kenemore to fill in for the show. The show that was played was essentially a progressive jam, but to the musicians it was something more, it was revealed that the four had an instant chemistry amongst one another and that night The Catatonic Imperative was no more and Rivid rose from the ashes. Since the band has been playing shows consistently earning a reputation and garnering fans, playing with the likes of Fierce Band!, Megatherian, and Suspended Fears to name a few. On July 16, 2011 Rivid released their debut EP “The Leader EP” to a universally positive fan response. The band is currently working to release a full length in December 2011.
