About

Edwin James has been active on the Dublin electronic scene since 2005, regularly playing live sets under his Corrugated Tunnel moniker in the city's most prestigious venues, as well as regular sets abroad. He has released singles on Invisible Agent, Ork, JM, seedyr, Dance Electric, Night Vision, Urban Torque, Dirty Works and Plastica. He has remixed DK7, Filterwolf, David Duriez, Def Disko and many more.

In those five years he also released two critically-acclaimed albums on seedyR: We Are Electronix (2006) and I AM CORRUGATED (2008). His third album Minor Obsessions, with guest appearances from Chelonis R Jones, DMIA and Martin McCann, will be released on Process Recordings in October 2010.

Still No Relief The Remixes

Following up the vocal tech-house decimation of Pete Grove's No Relief on TLM029, Thoughtless Music presents a squadron of remixes from some of our favorite artists, each presenting a unique take on the original. Bringing Pete's synth work to the fore, Pan/Tone drops an upfront club-friendly rework, while Rennie Foster's Drifting Dub weaves a single lyric of the original into a mesmerizing Berghain bomb with a breakdown to die for. Noah Pred amplifies the housier textures along with a fresh bass line on his two takes - one featuring the vocals prominently, the other leaving them out altogether. Meanwhile, Toronto's Arthur Oskan drives us into deep techno territory replete with trademark chords, and NITIN gives us a low-slung analog take for the after-hours. Finally, West Coast tandem Daega Sound deliver an exhilarating dubstep reconstruction, with Pete Grove's own Breakwater project closing things out with a murky two-step re-rub sure to leave its mark. …

Pete Grove has been in the techno game for quite some time, performing as Sunkissed and releasing on his Woodwork imprint. But it's been awhile since he's sent any postcards from the underground - seven years in fact. So his latest release, “No Relief”, marks a return of sorts for the long-standing producer and live performer. He pulls no punches here, with crackling arpeggios, meticulously sculpted accents and the eponymous vocal giving the title track a vaguely sinister feel to go with its prime-time underpinnings.

Grove turns to his pioneering live PA alias, Sunkissed, for a deeper house approach that highlights the dreamier elements of the original, bringing the vocals front and center while calling to mind a brilliant aurora spanning a lonely stretch of sky on a desolate expanse of nordic tundra. Following his “Devil's Water” sensation for Rebirth, Futago Traxx' Rennie Foster provides a lean yet muscular remix that delves into the stripped-down big room techno sound currently fueling dancefloors worldwide. …
