Biography

Red Fisher started as a band in 1988. It was Johnny and Jason that got the thing going. We wanted to play skate rock. It was those kind of bands we looked up to when we were kids skating in Winnipeg. In those early years SK8 skateboards help us out a lot. Jai Perra (RIP) was working with us to promote shows and build a scene. By 1990 our local shows were huge. Anywhere from 500 to 1000 kids per show. It was a crazy time as "punk rock" went mainstream thanks to the Nirvana craze.

We toured all over North America like a bunch of shitheads. We played with great bands such as: SNFU, Burn, 411,Los Crudos, ALL, Dag Nasty, Goo-Goo Dolls, Neurosis, Scream, Screeching Weasel, The Doughboys … the list gos on and on. During this time we had a few major labels trying to sign the band, but we never did. We started out as a band that believed for better or for worst in the ideal's of punk. And it was on those ideals the band ended. In late 1994 the band split up . Johnny moved to Alberta to race bike's and the rest of the boy's started great bands. We are all still friends to this day.

Red Fisher has carved out it's little dark corner in Canadian music history. We held in contempt all that was the Canadian music industry. When we stared the media hated "punk rock". Within two years they loved it? The kids that would call us "fags" and wanted to beat us up were now moshing at our shows? Funny how that all worked.

Props out to all the great humans that supported us. Red Fisher wants to thank: Simon Head, John Sutton, Neil Lee, Brad Johnson, Wycliffe, Emilio Ferrelli, Jay Smith, Boss Tunage Records. Those guys were all in the band over those years. Thanks to g7 for putting out this record back in 1994, and thanks for re-releasing it in 2006 …
