Ray Fuego, born Rayvell Pieternella on May 17, 1996, in Amsterdam, is a versatile Dutch musician, rapper, model, and activist. Raised in Amsterdam-Zuidoost, he gained prominence as a member of the hip-hop collective SMIB. In addition to his solo career, he has been involved in various musical projects, including Bummy Boys and Ploegendienst.
As a prominent member of SMIB, Ray Fuego contributed to the collective's unique sound and vision. In 2016, SMIB released the album "Bakuhatsu," followed by the "SMIB Tape" in 2018. These projects strengthened their position in the Dutch hip-hop scene and showcased their innovative approach to music and culture.
Together with GRGY and KC, Ray Fuego forms the group Bummy Boys. They have released several projects, including "Bummy Boys" and "Mubby Yobs 2.0." In 2019, they released "Bummy Boys 3," further developing their raw and authentic style.
Beyond his hip-hop activities, Ray Fuego is the lead vocalist of the punk band Ploegendienst, formed in 2018. The band combines hardcore punk with socially critical lyrics and is known for their energetic performances. Their music, such as the track "Schiphol," expressing frustrations about tourism in Amsterdam, has contributed to their reputation within the Dutch punk scene.
Ray Fuego's solo career began with the project "Fuego Para Siempre," followed by the EP "Siroop 'N Lottosackas" in 2015. His debut album "Zwart" released in 2018 was well-received and awarded the 3voor12 Award for Best Dutch Album. Later, he released albums such as "Fue" (2019), "HEMELSCHIP" (2021), and "Open, Bloot 'N Paranoïde" (2022), showcasing his versatility and artistic growth.
