Radio May Wave are an indie/alternative rock trio from Stockholm, Sweden.
They have been active since 2016 and published their first album Anybody Cares? the year after.
Though often identified as one of the most New Yorkish among the new Swedish bands, Radio May Wave influences from both Seattle 90's bands and British indie are also distinctively recognizable.
Their sound is characterized by a minimalistic analog setup, fuzzy guitar and bass riffs, heavy usage of effects, quasi-lo-fi production and the peculiar vocals of singer Vera-Linn Vice, often compared to those of Billy Corgan and Kim Gordon by music critics.
Radio May Wave's style ranges through different genres, from alternative to noise, stoner to more classic rock tunes.
The band has on several occasions used the term "charm-noise" to depict their own sound, a definition coined by the Italian magazine Rockit to describe the synthesis of the enthralling vocal and physical presence of frontwoman Vera-Linn, and the fuzzy instrumentals.
Radio May Wave lyrics, composed by singer Vera-Linn, are often very explicit and touch sensitive topics like sex, drugs, depression, loneliness, cynicism and freedom.
The other members of the band are bassist and producer Simone Odoardi, and drummer John Gomez.
During the second half of 2017 Radio May Wave released the singles Ultimate Disaster and Dress In Leather that will be part of the new album planned for 2018.
