God, last year I was on such a Steve McQueen high and this year I'm positively obsessed with Jordan: The Comeback. Such a rewarding listen- that Side 2 (from All The World Loves Lovers onwards) is pure heaven.
He may be something of a recluse these days, but Paddy McAloon has made another little gem, showing his craftsmanship once more. "Crimson/Red" may not be the perfect pop album (there is no "If You Don't Love Me" for instance), but each song on it is at least damn good. Note to self: listen to it repeatedly! Note to the world: about bloody time you discovered the genius of Prefab Sprout!
@ space-2 : beautiful words! :-)
I've been listening to them for a while, and I I've not really enjoyed their stuff listening to them on YouTube, but having listened to Swoon, I'm really enjoying bits of that album (Also really like Paddy Mcaloon's I Trawl the Megahertz & the acoustic version of Desire As off of the second disc of 'Steve McQueen') And I really want to like them, I'm just not digging their main material that much, is there anything else from them in particular anyone could reccomend?
