An album to, in the words of sole Pigeon Scratch member Ulric Pickar, "encapsulate the feelings of what it has been like to live here for the past two years via sound and words", Northern Minnesota: Why I Want To Leave among other things is a concept album about the often crushing feeling of living in a non significant suburban location and the mental consequences such an oppressive environment can impose on people.
Northern Minnesota for the most part sheds the acoustic skin of its predecessors and is Pickar's most electronic release yet, containing synths, noise, effected vocals and instruments and more. It is also the second Pigeon Scratch release to be accompanied by a instrumental album based on the drum kit, Drumstick, Continued (The Second Drum Album.
