A small army of musicians with highly efficient power. That's how you could describe this new band, founded by Olivier Schutte in 2007. These makers of atmosphere and improvisers do not feel the urge to rehearse. Instead, each meeting has resulted in a new song, which eventually led to the debut album 'A Certain Blue'. The songs have been recorded spontaneously; writing, arranging and recording in one go. This unique process results in a very fresh and attractive musical palette, in which strong songs are colored by the spirit of the moment.
Songs by Olivier's Army are often dark and sober, but can occasionally be light and playful, too. Jazz influences can be heard regularly, because of the prominent presence of trumpet and double bass, but also because of tasty improvisations. As a reference, one might think of David Sylvian, Talk Talk, Tom Waits, Wilco and Calexico.
