and they say you can't have a bad opinion... lol. They continue pumping out great music and will for upcoming albums, and when they'll have more great albums with Marcus than with Adrian while still having a big fanbase and having killer live performances, how will you Adrian dickriders feel?
Marcus fucking killed this band. Discoveries was one of the greatest albums ever, and Singularity was good too. Everything after is commercial, samey bullshit. And goddamn, Marcus can't write lyrics to save his life. It's like reading a fucking textbook.
I did not listen to their previous album Node. But Mesmer is amazingly good. Mesmerism (Animal magnetism) made me quite interested in the album. Opening track (Citizen) was not that impressive to me but as the album flows it stroke me hard until the ending track Paragon. Solar reminded me of Porcupine Tree and Prog stuff, same with Veridian.
Singularity (the album) is still the best in my opinion. It has got this great atmosphere and heaviness and the guitar tone and Adrian's vocals. Everything fits so perfectly. Shame that Adrian is out of business :(
How do people even come up with shit like "This sounds like The Word Alive" or "LOL NUMETAL" The only thing at all nu-metalish about this album is the fact that Solar has some Limp Bizkit riffage vibes.
Am I the only one who loves Node but just cant get into the first two records? I couldnt get past the dj0nt riffs on their previous material but Node got rid of that and gave us a cool atmospheric album with a nice aesthetic to it. I love how the band utilized a production that catered less towards the heavier parts and gave more weight to the melody and atmosphere of the music. The title track and Obelisk were my personal favorite tracks from the album.
Good point, but you're talking about aspects (asthetics, etc.) the typical metalcore listener just can't understand, let alone comprehend. While "Singularity" was a stereotypical pseudo-technical and -progressive album pushed by an undeniably outstanding singer, "Node" unites all these factors without the "pseudo"-Tag to it. I never understood the hype about those first two records and prolly I never will, because it isn't special at all. Adrian was special, yes. But the songwriting and overall sound wasn't, sorry.
