What I love obout that band, is that they have their very unique sound and style. After few notes you know it's Nile! Also they are one of those bands with perfect catalog. You can like more or less some of their albums but you can't call any of them bad IMHO
Ithyphallic>In Their Darkened Shrines>Those Whom The Gods Detest>What Should Not Be Unearthed>Annihilation Of The Wicked>At The Gate Of Sethu>Amongst The Catacombs Of The Nephren-Ka>Black Seeds Of Vengence
Im very upset by Dallas's decision to leave the band, but I think we have to respect that. He did really great job for Nile, but everything comes to an end. Good luck with the new project, Dallas and thanks for everything!
We would also like to announce that Dallas Toler-Wade has decided to leave the band to focus on his own plans and recordings. We want to thank Dallas and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
Can anyone recommend any other DM bands that have historical / mythological themes in their music and/or lyrics like Nile ? (excluding viking metal, as Ialready listen to a lot of that)...Only other one I can think of off top of my head is Behemoth. If you have any suggestion pls post them in my shoutbox Thanks
I cried at Cast Down the Heretic few years ago (maybe a decade) at concert in Zagreb. Literally. Poured like rain. Not just rain, like awesome pre-havoc rain. Havoc that you see one time in thousand years, maybe a millenia. People around me didn't understand. They just looked at me asking themselves why is this young boy havocing this millenia tears of rain.
I've listened to WSNBU like 10 times now, and tbh other than the songs I mentioned below, the rest of the songs on the album are kinda boring, and just feel like a bunch of riffs thrown together with no real transition or overrarching feel to the songs
The new album has like 3 good tracks, specifically "Call To...", "Evil to...", "To Walk...", and "Liber..." and "In the Name..." are ok, but for the most part the songwriting feels pretty weak compared to their previous stuff.
New album total shit!! just listen kids the Nile-s Execration Text,Churning The Maelstrom,Permitting the Noble Dead to Descend to the Underworld for understanding how need to be are brutal in Nile-style.
Honestly, Sethu was a grower for me. After 10 listens, I discovered that it is a great album. The anemic production made it hard to get into at first. That said, Unearthed to me picks up where Sethu left off, but fixes the issues--more powerful production, better guitar tone, and just straight up, pummeling, and more concise songs, a la Annihilation and Gods Detest. Not sure if they regarded it as a "concept album", but the title track's heavy slow riff is revisited throughout the album, especially on Age of Famine. Nile simply does not make bad music, but this album is a beast from start to finish. I really love it.
