Muariolanza is an ambient-jazz formation which writes music in accordance with John Cage's philosophy: “There is no silence – everything is music”. The band was founded by Mariusz Orzelowski, a graduate student of the Institute of Jazz at the Musical Academy of Katowice.
Muariolanza's music is not only jazz. Mariusz is an ambient music, Brian Eno's fan and he follows John Cage's philosophy of 'everything is music'. He records all the sound of his surroundings. (whether it's a sound of snow under his shoes, Amsterdam in rush hours and in the silent of the night or the washing mashine), he samples them and uses those sounds in his songs. Muariolanza's music contains jazz and ambient but also reggae, funk, noise and a lot of psychedelic - played live with support of rock'n'roll energy and crazy improvisations.
The band made its debut in 2006 with the album entitled “Muarioland’ from which two tracks were chosen to The Small Screen Theatre..s spectacle entitled “Bezład” by Witold Adamek. In 2007 Muariolanza recorded second album „Po drugiej stronie Przemszy” (it was officially released in April 2008). The recording session lasted only one day: the band walked in to the studio for three hours, recorded everything and then selected best versions of the songs (half of them was composed before the session, and half was born in there, while improvisations)“
Muariolanza are Mariusz Orzełowski (guitar), Marcin Babko (vocals, after sounds), Dominik Mietła (trumpet), Sylwester Walczak (bass), Pierre (drums), Zyla (visualisations). In the past the musicians were cooperating with among others space-rock legend – British Hawkwind band, with Zbigniew Namyslowski, Edyta Jungowska, Hans Peter Salentin (Germany), Robstar project (Great Britain) and Pogodno band.
