Rating: 1/5 Kept: 0%
Got this album from a list of female emcees – she raps as Pattie Blingh, apparently, so I checked her other stuff out because I found it first. UGH. Like, the more dippy R&B spiritualist aspects of Lauryn Hill meets the more off-key moments of Nina Simone meets experimental jazz. Obviously, this is someone, somewhere's thing, because someone signed her. But ugh. Good thing I got it cheap.
Lupe Fiasco – The Cool
Rating:3.2 /5 Kept: 100%
I hesitated before buying this, because The Cool was one of the few tracks off Lupe Fiasco's Food and Liquor that I disliked; it's about a zombie, which, YUCK (If you don't mind zombies, though, it sounds great). And Lupe talks in interviews about how this is a concept album about that character, and I was imagining a whole zombie album, and just, no. But even knowing what it was about, it wasn't too overt (thanks for the reassurance, illya23!) and I really enjoyed a lot of it. …

Mindless Self Indulgence live. i've seen most of their live videos and couldn't wait to finally see them live. it seemed to be fun and crazy and i tought i knew what to expect. i was wrong. it was just outstanding gig from another dimension.
having a long 12-fucking-hours day at work left behind i felt like i was just gonna stand someplace far away from stage and enjoy the concert having not to worry about scars and bruises next day...
i was oh-so-wrong again.
there is something about msi playing live that you're certainly not ready to if you've never been to their gig before. i was nearly collapsing when i finally saw them comming on stage.
3 seconds later i was provided some metaphysical energy hidden within their little songs like a little white lines of amphetamine...
and once you're drugged you're not gonna believe the mess you're a part of. you're gonna be mindless self indulgence.

■ MAIN STAGE:
My Chemical Romance
Taking Back Sunday
■ REVOLUTION STAGE:
Mindless Self Indulgence
Styles of Beyond
Just came back from this years giant nu-metal event, Projekt Revolution Tour. This years lineup were less diverse, with a few artists thrown in; Styles of Beyond, Mindless Self Indulgence, which don't pratically fit the whole 'teenage angst' scene which made up this years tour.
The show started at 12:45PM, where I left at 1:00PM - so I missed a couple bands performance. After the tedious and humid two hour drive down to Sound Advice Amphitheatre I heard Mindless Self Indulgence performing Shut Me Up which meant I just made it to see them perform.
Filled with pre-teenagers with there parents, I easily pushed my way though without any hassle to the main stage. I have missed a couple performances; Saosin, The Bled, and Styles of Beyond so I will not include them in this review.

26 Jun 2006, 01:54 by hikaruuchihaThis blog should have a bigger purpose. Then again, I realize I don't have the effort, that's why I maintain four other blogs. :)
So, music I've been listening to lately? I dunno, I've really been listening to a whole lot of A Perfect Circle, Nightwish and Mindless Self Indulgence. Tracks in particular from each: Passive, Backmask and Once. I like Once for the intro mostly, Backmask for the first half, and Passive for the whole thing.
What's up with my life? On the whole, this and that, stuff sometimes, and my birthday next week.
