I can't tell if seeing people whining over a 40-year old band not putting out albums as great as their first 4 is hilarious or sad. 72 Seasons is really far from Metallica's best material and has plenty of flaws but come on. It's not horrible, you've heard way worse shit and you know it.

I love them, I adore them! Metallica was and still is in all my difficult moments in life. I have a very hard 17 years behind me, an extremely hard time in my life.... Cancer, several severe surgeries, amputation of a leg and finally a medical error and the coma that resulted from it. In every difficult moment I am helped by the works of Metallica.

Sometimes feel like they shouldve stuck with the St. Anger sound! Some of the songs on there are kinda cringe BUT the riffs actually sounded inspired and angry which is what made Metallica good in the first place. Lars going hard on the drums and James writing pissed off lyrics. At that point they were probably the best and only good Nu Metal band around. What other Band would mix Korn with Motörhead? They actually had something new to build on but didnt and instead rehash old ideas which turn out to be boring for the most part. Condense all the good ideas on St. Anger into decent song and you turn it into a really killer EP. For a band experimenting with down tunings for the first time it was a pretty good start and i feel they couldve taken that Nu Metal / Motörhead sound and give it more of a Metallica feel and aesthetics. Now 72 Seasons aint bad but i just wish they would add something to their sound instead of dumbing everything down.
