Formed back in 1986, a greek psych/garage rock band from Athens, The Melting Ashes were a part of the mid 80s psych/garage rock global revival with contemporaries Mushrooms (from Thessaloniki) and Last Drive (from Athens). Their sound was pure 60s US Acid/Punk . They split up in 1988 and til that time their only official recording was the song "The Midnight Bar" included in the Wipe Out Records compilation "Wipe Out! Presents 12 Raw Greek Groups" (WOR 008, 1988).
In 1991 their manager (Theodore "The Whip" Kritharis, owner of label) remastered the recorded demos of 1987 (recorded @ Next (To Nothing) Studio) along with some ex-members of the band and released the record "Green Fuzz 1987”(WOR 042). The album consists of 8 Melting Ashes' tracks ans 2 cover versions (GREEN FUZZ & I’M ON MY WAY).
Tracks included in following compilations:
- Miss Blackbird in "Psychedelic Gew-Gaw Presents: Universal Mind" (1997, Gew-Gaw-02)
- Angels of Sunrise in "Gew-Gaw’s Journey To Nowhere Street" (1999, GG201)
- The Midnight Bar in "Double Shot" WipeOut compilation (WOR 04)
