Matthew Danger Lippman is a multi-instrumentalist rock & roll musician based in Brooklyn. Born in Buffalo, NY in 1995, MDL learned to funnel his class clown theatrics (showing up to 6th grade show-and-tell in a bikini, rapping on tabletops during lunch) into playing music in high school. MDL's high school band, Brimstone Blondes, released an LP, Age of Consent, on Admirable Traits Records in 2014 before dissolving. After that, MDL switched focus to a lo-fi solo career, putting out solo tapes REFRESH 2 DEATH, in 2017, and ILL., in 2018; he opened for such acts as Foxygen, Shonen Knife, and Caleb Giles, screaming punk anthems and crooning jazz standards and generally alienating audiences. In 2019, MDL hired jazz bassist Arden Yonkers and his twin brother Oliver to be his full-time band, dubbing them “the Molson Twins.” The Twins helped MDL settle into a psychedelic widescreen rock & roll sound showcased on 2019 EP Sadomania and 2021 EP Touchdown U.S.A. The band quickly got a reputation for its wild live shows, which combine punk mayhem with outrė performance art, performing frequently around Brooklyn. The band has since toured extensively throughout the United States and Canada, performing with everything from comedy troupes to French Canadian rappers and punk bands. In 2021, MDL appeared in a feature film, Samantha Rose, directed by Andrew Morgan.
