Haha, some people tagged this as "pop metal", go tell that to my parents when I try to play this in the car ..
I took the diamond
"You can run to the sea, you can run to the forest" part and the subsequent heavy-as-fk riff are pure gold.
riffovačka jako praseeee
I'm exhausted but still can't stop listening to this and Curl of the Burl. This is starting to get serious.
This sounds so much better when your high. On a side note... I would like a more prominent bassline in this song.
1:48 amazing riff incoming
Mastodon kick Ass..

I hear nothing of Avenged's Nightmare in this... I do hear awesomeness though.
this is my first listen to this band after seeing this album rated as number 1 for 2011 in classic rock magazine, i can see why, sounding great
You can run to the sea, you can run to the forest.. but you'll never escape!!@ great fucking opener, amazing album.
Bill did a damn good job on this track.
Death of the...
the solo part and the twin guitar melody after that is pretty much the definition of win
you've run out of lies - my favorite part of this song
Mike Elizondo worked with Mastodon on 'The Hunter' and with Avenged Sevenfold on 'Nightmare'.
That's where the 'Nightmare' (song) hint comes from.
If Mastodon is "Pop Metal", then I enjoy that genre.
who tagged this "pop metal"? :D
"Why is this so generic?" - Says the bleachfag.
Does anyone else get a hint of Avenged Sevenfold's Nightmare?
Awesome song from a masterpiece album \m/
Why is this so generic?
Best song of the album
dayman ahaha fighter of the nightman ahaha champion of the sun
@ iDeception: The way I heard it was that he burned them out, but you are correct, he did use his mothers jewelry.
There is something very Ride The Lighningish about parts of this song.
except Oedipus didn't burn out his eyes, he stabbed them out with his mother's jewelry (from my recollection)
The lyrics allude to Oedipus Rex, if I'm not mistaken. Especially "I burned out my eyes/I cut out my tongue."
notevole..... in cuffia.. notevole..... bel mondo.....
Digging this song

Love this song! :) I can't wait to hear more off their new album!
as always, Brann's drumming is a huge highlight. Agreed, not a dead moment.
